Hyland Storyboards

Illustration, Motion

Storyboard sketches of a woman approaching a staircase in the first panel. and then planting a flag at the top in the next panel.

My team at Jack Morton worked with Deep Vibe to create four spots for Hyland’s Innovators Everywhere campaign. I conceptualized and sketched storyboards for four spots that were each produced at three size ratios: 1×1, 16×9, and 9×16. To ensure that we captured everything needed for each size (and could crop the footage as needed rather than shoot separately for each size) I created shooting boards that encompassed all three sizes. My team at Jack Morton collaborated with Deep Vibe, the creative agency who produced the final videos.

The final videos and corresponding shooting boards are below:

Six storyboard panels that depict a woman navigating a maze-like room full of stairs.

Six storyboard panels that depict a woman navigating a maze-like room full of stairs. When she enters a new area, the stairs disappear, leaving only an escalator. She rides to the top of the escalator and plants a flag at the crest.

Six storyboard panels that depict a rocket flying over a globe with buildings on it. Transition to a woman sitting at a computer desk and gazing out her window at the night sky. She returns to work, and the camera switches to focus on her computer screen.

Six storyboard panels that show the stars in the night sky forming a constellation in the shape of a thumbs up. The camera pans down to reveal a group of people standing confidently with their arms across their chests, then transitions to the Hyland logo.

Four storyboard panels that depict icons on the woman's computer screen transitioning to icons in the sky above a man who's sitting on a bench while working on a tablet. The camera then zooms in to focus on the night sky, where the icons have turned back to stars.

Six storyboard panels that depict a hand bringing a key to a lock. a door then slowly draws in around the lock, and eventually opens.

Four storyboard panels that depict the door opening further to reveal a group of people interacting with various tech devices emitting projections of different icons. One waves at the viewer before the Hyland logo appears.

Six storyboard panels that depict a close-up of sparkler stick beginning to emit sparks. The camera zooms out to show the man holding it. The man then touches his sparkler to someone else's, lighting the second sparkler. The second sparkler is then used to light a third.

Three storyboard panels that depict the third person holding the sparkler. The camera then zooms out to show the whole group, holding their sparklers and smiling at the camera, before transitioning to the Hyland logo.

Below is one of my original storyboards for “Everyday Innovation,” with the original script. A lot changed between the original concept and the final shoot!

8 panel storyboard. Panel 1 depicts an airline arrival board with flights arriving at innovation from Boston, Paris, Dublin, Shanghai, and Bueno Aires. Below panel 1 is the text: "4 in 5 companies around the world say innovation was a top corporate priority last year." Panel 2 depicts an airplaine taking off. Below panel 2 is the text: "So no matter where you are, innovating matters." Panel 3 depicts a stewardess assisting passengers inside a plane. Below panel 3 is the text: "But who are these innovators?" Panel 4 depicts a woman in her seat, working on a laptop. Below panel 4 is the text: "At Hyland, we think the real innovators are you." Panel 5 depicts a person with long hair and a suit in another seat working on a tablet. The text below reads: "Anyone looking for efficiencies, big or small, that help you work better." Panel 6 depicts a man looking out the airplane window next to his seat. Below is the text: "Our enterprise content solutions do just that." Panel 7 depicts a close-up over the shoulder shot of the same man's view through the window. The distant grid of a city is visible below the plane. Below the image is the text: "We connect systems, fine-tune processes, and empower..." Panel 8 shifts the camera's focus to the reflection of the man's face in the glass of the window. The caption below reads, "...everyday innovators like you."
